ABOUT THERESNOTHINGHERETBH
unsure. but.
This site acts as a blog, an archival space, a gallery. an individual and ever-growing artwork, a memory box, a photographic experience, an exhibition, and IÂ suppose whatever else comes to mind for the person interacting.Â
There are simple moments of observation and certain beauty, intimate moments of introspection and acknowledgment and lastly, yet undoubtedly, there's the poignant thought that reigns among it all - that as much as I presume to convince myself that nothing is here, everything I have included - their thoughts, their words, their breathing, their laughing - most certainly is.
SHADOWS AND OTHER MOMENTS WHERE NOTHING SEEMS TO HAPPEN
At the beginning of a certain project I worked on I adopted a serious case of melancholy and mundanity. Ironically, these emotions set off some unrealized interest in me. I started photographing things which I felt meant something, yet nothing. I remember telling myself,
"yes, this is the personification of your mind".
SEMI-UNNATURAL LIGHTÂ
AND THINGS LIKE THAT
What is fascinating for me here, is that, without my camera, my sometimes third eye, i cannot see these things in their full form. I suppose I could peek at them for little more than a second, but then be forced away by their harshness.Â
Great are the inventions that allow us to see beyond our simple sight.
THE HAIR THAT WILL OUTLIVE ME
I started collecting my hair to see how much it would in fact accumulate to. i needed to know if the amount i was losing each day added up. if all the strands were accounted for.Â
But, of course this is not only my hair.Â
In the same way my hair is found on your pillow or your jacket, yours is found by me, in my dreams.
DUST AND DIRT AND ALL THEIRÂ BEAUTY
Today my granny was cleaning the kitchen when she said " I feel like all I do is clean and wait to clean again next week, or tomorrow or in the next 5 minutes." My mother then responded in a way that made one feel as though she understood everything on a profound level:
"Of course. They are right, I suppose.
Everything is done for nothing."
A TRIBUTE
The process of making lithographs was really where my love for printing began. I will forever be grateful for the amazing teacher who took the time to teach me. Thabiso, if you read this, just know that you are an unbelievably inspiring and talented printing technician. And, thank you.
HIT ME UP
ANOTHER TRIBUTE
To all the artists, thank you forever for making these works. They have changed the way IÂ think and the way I see and IÂ will always feel privileged to have set my eyes on your work. Thank you.
